The small print — I

Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Roman Reads when you read here, hold an account here, or buy a book here.

Revised 7 August 2026

  1. I.Who you are dealing with

This site is operated by Roman Reads, of PWD Block D, Street 23, Islamabad 44018, Pakistan (“Roman Reads”, “we”, “us”).

Using this site, creating an account, or placing an order means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. Notices reach us at info@romanreads.com.

  2. II.Your account

You may read a good deal of this site without an account. You need one to keep a library, track reading progress, or buy.

    • You must be at least 13 to hold an account.
    • Give an email address you actually control — it is where orders, receipts and password resets go.
    • Your account is yours alone. Keep the password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your login.
    • Tell us at info@romanreads.com if you think someone else has got in.

We may suspend an account that is being used to break these terms, and we will say why.

  3. III.What we sell

Three things, and they are not the same in law:

    • Hardcover editions — physical goods: the original text, a simplified edition, or a translation printed to your order. You buy them outright.
    • Digital editions — included free with every hardcover. Licensed to you, not sold.
    • Audiobooks — narrated recordings, opened by the subscription and licensed rather than sold.

Descriptions, cover images and page counts are given in good faith. Printing runs vary and a physical book may differ slightly from its photograph.

  4. IV.Prices and payment

Prices are shown in the currency of your region and include any tax we are required to charge unless the page says otherwise. Shipping is added at checkout.

Card payments are processed by Safepay. We do not receive or store your full card number. An order is accepted when we confirm it by email, not when you click pay — if payment succeeds but we cannot fulfil the order, we refund it in full.

If a price is listed wrongly through an obvious error, we may cancel the order and refund you rather than honour it. We will tell you before doing so.

  5. V.The margin guide

The reading guide explains hard lines, chapters and whole books beside the text. It is generated automatically, and it is a study aid, not a source of truth.

It can be confidently wrong: it may misread an allusion, flatten an ambiguity the author intended, or invent a source. Do not rely on it for academic citation, and never rely on it for legal, medical or financial questions. Where the guide and the book disagree, the book is right.

  6. VI.What you may do with what you buy

A hardcover is a book. Read it, annotate it, lend it, resell it, leave it to somebody — we have no say in any of that, and want none.

A digital edition or audiobook comes with a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to read or listen for your own use, on your own devices, for as long as you hold your account.

  7. VII.What you may not do

    • Copy, upload, share or sell the digital editions or audiobooks.
    • Strip, defeat or work around any access control on them.
    • Scrape the site in bulk, or hit it in a way meant to degrade it for others.
    • Resell access to your account, or pool one account across a group.
    • Use the site to break the law, or to harass anybody.
  8. VIII.The site itself changes

We add titles, retire titles, change prices, and rebuild features. We may change or withdraw any part of the site without notice, and we do not promise that it will be available uninterrupted.

If we withdraw a digital edition you have already bought, we will either keep your access to it or refund it. We will not simply take it back.

  9. IX.Where our responsibility ends

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or lost data, or for anything arising from your reliance on the margin guide. Our total liability for any order is limited to what you paid for it.

Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected by anything in this document.

  10. X.Ending it

You may close your account at any time by writing to info@romanreads.com. Closing it ends your licences to digital editions and audiobooks; hardcovers you already own are unaffected, because they are yours.

We may end this agreement if you materially break it. We will give you notice and a chance to put it right, unless the breach makes that unreasonable.

  11. XI.Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Pakistan, and disputes go to the courts of Islamabad, Pakistan.

If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.

  12. XII.Changes to these terms

We revise this document from time to time. The date at the head of the page is the revision date, and the version published here is the one in force.

Where a change materially reduces your rights, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
